7 Best Colleges To Study At

Here are seven of the top colleges you can study in if you are taking higher education in the US. They are very difficult to get into and they are very expensive to attend, however, there are many US companies that consider a degree from these colleges to be something that is prized. If you do well in these colleges, then it is easier for you to have a good career when you graduate.

1 - Harvard University

This is a private university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a very well known college in the US and is often mentioned on US TV shows, especially the long-running show “The Simpsons.” Their usual acceptance rate is 5,9% and the sports mascot they use is called John Harvard the Pilgrim. The number of students they accept on average is 21,000, which is a rather large number compared to many other colleges in the country. The college was founded in September 8, 1636 and their current address is Cambridge, MA 02138.

The Janitor from the TV show Scrubs is a Harvard graduate in the TV show, and so is the character Ally McBeal from the TV show of the same name.

2 - Massachusetts Institute of Technology

This is a private university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Their current address is 77 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139. Their usual acceptance rate is around 7,9%. Their sports mascot is called Tim the Beaver. The founder was called William Barton Rogers, and the college was founded in 1861. The number of students they accept on average is 11,319. This is a college well known for its technological prowess and the students pride themselves on the tech-qualifications they gain from it.

Lex Luthor is a graduate of MIT from the Superman comics and movies.

3 - Stanford University

This is a private university in California. Their usual acceptance rate is 5,1% and the number of students they accept on average is 16,136. The college was founded in November 11, 1885 and their current address is 450 Serra Mall, Stanford, CA 94305. The colors the university uses are Cardinal colors, and the founders were called Leland Stanford and Jane Stanford. This is a very old college with plenty of traditions. It is known as a college that is very difficult to get into, even despite the fact they are a middle-sized college with a capacity of over 16,000. Also, Ray Stantz in the movie Ghostbusters mentions that Stanford University won't touch them "with a ten-meter cattle-prod."

Agent Dana Scully from the TV show the X-Files got her degree from Stanford University.

4 - University of California, Berkeley

This is a public university in Berkeley, California. Their current address is Berkeley, CA. Their usual acceptance rate is 18,1%, which is rather high when compared with the rest on this list, but rather low when compared with other colleges in the country. Their sports mascot is called Oski. The number of students they accept on average is 37,581, which is the reason their acceptance rate appears to be higher. The colors the university uses are Berkeley Blue and California Gold. There are a wide range of fictional characters that apparently went to Berkeley, see more of them here

In the movie Savages (2012), Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character, Ben is said to be an alumni of Berkeley.

5 - Columbia University

This is a private university in New York City, New York. Their current address is 116th St & Broadway, New York, NY 10027. Their usual acceptance rate is 6,9%. The sports mascot is called Lion. The number of students they accept on average is 29,870, which is a high number, yet their acceptance rate is so low because they have a massive number of applicants every year. The president is called Lee Bollinger and the colors the university uses are white and Columbia blue.

The superhero the Daredevil got his law degree at Columbia University.

6 - Yale University

This is a private university in New Haven, Connecticut. Their current address is New Haven, CT 06520. Their usual acceptance rate is 6,3% and the sports mascot is called Handsome Dan. The number of students they accept on average is 12,336. The president is called Peter Salovey. The colors the university uses are Yale Blue. It is often associated with rich people and is considered by many as a place where posh people attend.

Mr Burns from the Simpsons dislikes Harvard teams because he went to Yale University.

7 - Princeton University

This is a private university in New Jersey. Their current address is Princeton, NJ 08544. Their usual acceptance rate is 7,4%. The sports mascot is called The Tiger and the number of students they accept on average is 8,125. The president is called Christopher L. Eisgruber and the colors the university uses are Princeton Orange and Black. Oddly enough, the college started having more and more black people apply after its frequent mentions on the TV show “The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air.” Partly because many High School students hadn't even heard of it prior to the TV show, and partly because the TV show made attending Princeton something that both black and white people should aspire to. To this day there are posters of Carlton and Will in dorm rooms on campus.

There are several hints on Toy Story 3 that Andy was going to Princeton University.
